# IV. Metagaming

These rules aim to create a fair and immersive roleplaying environment by minimizing metagaming, which is using out-of-character (OOC) information to gain an in-character (IC) advantage. The goal is to foster realistic interactions and prevent players from exploiting knowledge they shouldn't have in character.

**I. Core Principles:**

* **IC vs. OOC:** Maintain a strict separation between IC and OOC knowledge. What you know OOC shouldn't influence your IC actions unless it's something your character would realistically know.
* **Knowledge Limits:** Your character only knows what they would realistically know based on their background, experiences, and available information.
* **Realistic Actions:** Act within the bounds of what your character would reasonably do, given their personality, skills, and the situation.
* **No Exploiting Bugs:** Do not exploit any bugs or glitches in the game to gain an unfair advantage in roleplay. Report any such issues to the appropriate channels.
* **Respect Boundaries:** Respect the boundaries and choices of other players. Do not use OOC knowledge to manipulate or control their characters.

**II. Specific Examples of Metagaming:**

* **Knowing Player Locations:** You shouldn't know where other players are unless your character would have a legitimate reason to know (e.g., seeing them, receiving information from someone else).
* **Using OOC Communication:** Avoid using OOC communication to share information that would give your character an unfair advantage.
* **Predicting Actions:** Don't predict another player's actions based on OOC knowledge of their play style or intentions.
* **Character Knowledge:** Your character shouldn't have knowledge that they wouldn't realistically possess (e.g., knowing another player's backstory without IC interaction).
* **Accessing Hidden Information:** Don't access or use information that is intentionally hidden or unavailable to your character (e.g., using admin tools to gain knowledge that your character wouldn't have).

**III. Enforcement:**

* **Warnings:** First offenses may result in warnings.
* **Temporary Bans:** Repeated or severe violations may result in temporary suspensions.
* **Permanent Bans:** Persistent metagaming or intentional exploitation of game mechanics may lead to permanent bans.
* **Fairness:** The goal is to maintain a fair and immersive environment for all players. Punishments will be consistent and fair.

**IV. Reporting:**

Report any instances of metagaming to the appropriate channels (e.g., moderators, admins). Provide clear and concise details to help in the investigation.
