# IX. OOC (Out of Character)

#### **I. Core Principles**

1. **Stay in Character:**
   * Players should remain in character during gameplay. OOC discussions should be minimized to avoid disrupting the flow of roleplay.
2. **Respect Boundaries:**
   * Always respect the boundaries of other players. If someone prefers to keep OOC discussions to a minimum, honor their wishes.
3. **No Metagaming:**
   * Do not use OOC knowledge to influence IC actions. This includes information gained from outside the game that your character would not realistically know.
4. **Clear Communication:**
   * Use OOC communication channels (like chat or voice) for discussing game mechanics, rules, or resolving conflicts. Keep these discussions separate from IC interactions.
5. **Conflict Resolution:**
   * If conflicts arise, try to resolve them OOC in a calm and respectful manner. Avoid bringing OOC disputes into the roleplay.

#### **II. Specific Examples of OOC Violations**

1. **Breaking Character:**
   * Making OOC comments during an intense IC moment can break immersion. For example, saying "I need to go eat" while in the middle of a serious scene.
2. **Using OOC Knowledge:**
   * If a player knows something about another character's backstory from OOC discussions, they should not use that information to influence their character's actions.
3. **Disrespecting Other Players:**
   * Engaging in personal attacks or harassment in OOC discussions is unacceptable. Always maintain a respectful tone.
4. **Spamming OOC Chat:**
   * Flooding the chat with OOC messages can disrupt gameplay. Keep OOC communication concise and relevant.

#### **III. Enforcement**

1. **Warnings:**
   * First-time offenders may receive a warning from moderators or admins regarding their OOC behavior.
2. **Temporary Bans:**
   * Repeated violations or severe instances of OOC misconduct may result in temporary bans from the server.
3. **Permanent Bans:**
   * Persistent offenders who continue to disrupt the roleplay experience may face permanent bans.

#### **IV. Reporting OOC Violations**

* If you witness OOC violations, report them to the appropriate staff member or administrator. Provide clear evidence and context to support your report.

#### **V. Promoting Fair Play**

* Encourage a collaborative and respectful environment. Engage with other players in a way that enhances the roleplay experience for everyone involved. Remember, the goal is to create believable and engaging scenarios, not to dominate the narrative.

By adhering to these rules, we can foster a more immersive and enjoyable roleplaying experience for all players. If you have any further questions or need more details, feel free to ask! 😊

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://new-legion-rp-la.gitbook.io/newlegionrp/general-rp/ix.-ooc-out-of-character.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
